The Secret Life of the Lolita: Part three!

Elliot and Goldie of Deerstalker Pictures have just released the final instalment of the documentary series about lolitas !! This time it explores the different substyles of lolita, but of course it goes from normal styles to completely ridiculous but amazing ones made up for the video.

OTT Sweet uguu~ lolita (me) and hobo lolita (Maya babbuu)
It was all filmed in one day at my house being the main location using different rooms, my front yard, the street in front of my house as well as the nearby park and industrial areas. But there was also a bit of travelling to the beach, other people's houses and other locations for it to be perfected ♡ ♡  !!

Here is the video below:

It was like playing dress ups with all the clothes in my wardrobe and the clothes that everybody else bought as well. We were rolling around in a sea of clothes and everybody was helping each other coordinate and come up with different substyles that we thought were funny or would be awesome to portray. I was running on 48 hours no sleep because I am an idiot, so I only did sweet lolita and ero lolita and was happy to watch for the rest ^^!

Robber lolita (Cming) and badass bikie lolitas (Maya, Meggu and Victoria)

I'm so excited for the bloopers / the making of video because I know there were a lot of derpy moments that were captured that I would love to laugh at. Hopefully we get to do bonus ones soon too because after the video we thought of so much more to do >:]

Lolita challenge 6: 10 things you can’t live without in lolita!

I know, I know I skipped number 5 - but I am always posting wishlists so it was a waste of timeeeee. This time I have to post about ten things I can't live without in lolita, so here we goooooo. Trying to think of these things was kinda weird really - like obviously you can live without these things because it's not a life necessity but it's definitely a hobby I enjoy to the point of revolving my life around it.
1. The colour pink is not just a thing I can't live without in lolita, I can't live without it in my life at all - it's the best colour to ever exist and I get annoyed when I find something that doesn't come in pink. WHY WOULD YOU NOT MAKE IT IN PINK!?

2. Internet mannn. No internet means no shopping, no communication with other lolitas, no blogging, no stalking pretty people, no nothing. I actually think I would be bored out of my brain if I didn't have it - or worse outside playing some kind of sport and being active *screaming* *A*;; !!

3. I wouldn't be able to do anything without my job giving me sweet sweet cash moneys. Money is essential in any hobby and I definitely do not mind spending it on the pretty things I find!

Burando money from a lolita monopoly game !!

4. Shopping services are the best thing to ever happen to lolita and I really don't know how I would live without them for auction sites and taobao especially. I rely on them so heavily for a lot of lolita things that don't ship overseas (which is nearly all of it, waaaa) and other j-fashions and just cute things in general. Plus, it actually turns out a lot cheaper to buy in bulk from other countries than it does to buy things in Australia most of the time orz;;

5. Okay, I admit I can't live without petticoats - even though I think they are the devil. They really do make the whole lolita silhouette when worn, and puff out the dress so it looks full and the prints or fabrics are in full show. I wear different shaped ones depending on the cut of the dress I'm wearing, and for conventions go all out and see how many I can wear without looking completely ridiculous !!

6. It's always nice to have cameras around. I definitely think taking pictures and documenting the fun times you have in lolita is something you can't live without. Also I like my selcas and derp photos and stuff nerrrr don't judge meeeeeeee.

7. Inspiration from other lolitas is such a big thing - I love looking through photos, blogs and journals to see how different people coordinate the same dress, and how it can be so versatile with creativity and different colour palettes.

8.  Angelic Pretty will forever be my number one favourite and I really think that I would definitely think differently about lolita fashion without it. I love all of their prints (well, almost all somebody please burn that "Dreamy Baby Room" monstrosity), especially the new sweet classic ranges that are coming out. I can't see myself really dressing in gothic or classic as my main style, but man I definitely appreciate the girls that pull it off so well.

I love you, Angelic Pretty~

9.  I definitely wouldn't be able to get by without support from family, friends and my boyfriend. Having a nice support network around you really makes a world of difference - especially when they are people close to you. My family was a bit like whattttttt at first, but now Mum even helps me do up my waist ties and gives feedback on my coordinates. My friends outside of lolita also like it and I get asked to wear it out when we all hang out together which makes me really happy. Oh, and Cathal now knows brand names, some print names and lolita jargon so I can talk to him freely about it and he understands - but he's also made up some stupid names for dresses and tells me I can't buy certain ones because "they're ugly", hahahhaha.

10. My community and meetups are a big part of me - if I didn't have these guys lolita wouldn't be much fun at all. I love always seeing them and meeting up doing various activities like swap meets, high teas, bowling and pizza nights and pyjama parties. I've met some of my closest friends through lolita and I'm just so happy mann.

Please let me know if you've started the challenge too, or what the things are that you couldn't live without n___n !!

Lolita challenge 4: 10 different kinds of food you like!

Ahhhh  I've had such a busy week that I haven't been able to post at all >___< !! Shoots, meets and work have got the better of me but I'm ready to keep going with the lolita challenge !!
Oh mannn this one is about food. I love food so much and trying to pick a top ten is so hard because I eat like everything (except cucumber and celery oh my god gross) so these are in no particular order. I'm going to try and write more categories and dishes instead of individual things because there is just too much to choose from.
1. Smoothies are food right!? I consider them meals in a cup so nerrrr they're going in the list. I just recently got a blender over obsessing over them for so long and all I wanna do is make fruit smoothies with sorbet and yoghurt and ice cream and just everything. I like the ones from boost juice too - I always get green tea mango mantra or honey buzz because they're so yummmm.

2. One of my favourite things ever is cheese and antipasto platters. I'm that person at a party that sits right next to it and doesn't eat anything else until it's all gone. I've always been a big cheese fan, especially of the vintage and flavoured ones (like the one with sun-dried tomato blended into it *drooooool*). Dips are also amazing and I could eat them all day every day with some biscuits or carrot sticks - beetroot, avocado and chunky pesto dips are some of my favourites.

3. Hot pot da besssss. Seriously the best. The place I go to gives you a variety of vegetables and those noodles in a bunch but also an egg to dip your meat in before you eat it (at first I was like OH GROSS WHO THE HELL DIPS THINGS IN RAW EGG LIKE SAUCE!??! but man it's definitely something to try). I always order extra noodles to put in it too because noodles are number one. It's also really fun to sit there and cook your own food even though it's kinda a weird concept to pay for a restaurant to not do it, hahahahhaha.

4. Cookies and cream flavoured anything. It's probably the best flavour ever invented for sweets !! I love the Hershey's chocolate and the Sara Lea ice-cream and home made oreo cheesecake and basically anything to do with dipping biscuits in milk when I'm poorfag and can't afford those orz;;

5. Sandwiches made with super fillings and then toasted on turkish bread or bagels are so yum. I have one nearly everyday for lunch at work and I pack on spinach and rocket, avocado, sun-dried tomato, feta, fresh tomato, beetroot, and cheese. It's so healthy and yum at the same time, yessssssss.

6. I really love ramen. I'm drooling thinking about the warm broth and noodles and slices of pork on top that melt in your mouth and the vegetables and ughhhhhhhh especially on cold days or days where you are hungry as hell and you need something to completely fill your stomach (and you end up sitting there looking pregnant with food).

7. My favourite little things that I keep in my handbag all the time are the musk flavoured lifesavers. Usually I have to buy like ten of them though because as soon as I eat one I generally don't stop until I've eaten the whole packet orz;;

8. Pizza, but not just any pizza man, gourmet pizza. The ones that are topped with so many things you can't fit it all in your mouth at once. There's a take away pizza place near me called Crust and I always get a half half with the chicken, pesto, prosciutto and rocket pizza on one side, and the gourmet Mediterranean vegetarian with pesto on top because I can't choose between the two. Or those italian woodfire pizza places that make the dough themselves and it's all puffy and yum.

9. I used to have a really big hatred for seafood until sushi happened. I started off with all the chicken and vegetarian ones then tried salmon, tuna and prawn and oh man now I can't get enough. I'm now one of those people who get one of everything and have a plate stacked up halfway to the moon. I especially love the ones with kewpie mayonnaise, seared salmon, cream cheese and avocado somewhere in the mix.

10. Huge ice-cream sundaes definitely need to be on this list too. The ones with heaps of sauce, wafers, sprinkles and like five scoops of ice-cream in them that are bigger than your head. Mainly because they're pretty to look at but when the sweet tooth cravings kick in they're the best things ever to settle them !!
I just realised there are so many carb-y foods in that list ahahhahaha but I just can't keep away from them. Hopefully I won't be so busy this coming week so I can catch up on some posts !!

Lolita challenge 3: 10 things I hate in lolita!

This is a really hard thing for me to write, because there isn't much that I hate about Lolita fashion because mannnnn my life pretty much revolves around it. I really struggled to write down ten things, and really they're more of a dislike than a hatred but ehhhhhh~ challenge here we go !!
1. I guess the number one thing that I can think of is the price of the actual hobby. The dresses themselves are sooo expensive and it really takes it out of your bank account >___<. Even socks and accessories have a higher price on them than other fashions and paying a bazillion dollars for a headbow or a pair of socks is kinda unjustifiable sometimes! But then again I guess it is all limited and it's about collecting and stuff (now I'm just talking to myself to try and make me feel better about how much money I spend orz;;)

2. Okay so this isn't really lolita's fault, it's my country but ahhhhhh the weather in Australia is so hot and heat just does not mix with lolita at all. Lolita has a lot of layers like bloomers, blouses and socks but they're nothing compared to the worst one of all -  the petticoattttt. I suffer from heat sickness which sucks, and I wish it snowed where I lived or was permanently cardigan weather so I wouldn't have to suffer on summer days.

Complete and utter demonnnnnnn!!

3. The one thing that really irks me is the brand, offbrand, replica and handmade debate. It's caused a lot of drama not only in communities but forums and blogs all across the interwebs. I think it's silly to get so upset and worked up over clothes, if you can wear any of the above and make it look good - that's awesome. It's not about where you got your clothes, it's definitely how you wear them.

4. The dresses always ever come out in only one size in each style, and it's always different. I've got some that fit perfectly and the others just seem to hang off me which sucksss. I think Emily Temple Cute is the worst when it comes to odd sizings and I'm considering getting mine altered to fit properly because it's so big. Shoe sizes are also a problem! I've noticed Baby, the Stars Shine Bright always having odd fits for each shoe they bring out, Angelic Pretty are okay, Innocent World I've been told run small and I'm told Bodyline is either really comfortable or horrible to wear. I mainly stick to buying taobao shoes because I've found they fit better! My favourite brand is Seasons.
5. Most of the time the comments and reactions from people are really nice, but there are always unwanted comments and interactions that are really nasty and uncomfortable. I've had milk thrown at me, things yelled across the street at me and just general stares and nasty mumbling about what I'm wearing. Some people even take pictures sneakily and rudely without asking first - I wonder how they feel if I did it to them? I'm more than happy to oblige and pose for a photo when asked >____<

Lolitas in public, dun dun dun~

6. Dresses that just seem impossible to come by when you've been searching for a million years are the worst. There are a few dresses on my wishlist that either never pop up, pop up when I have no money at all, or get bought before I see them and I'm just like ahhhh noooooooooo I'm an hour too late to see the post !!

7. Sometimes buying dresses sucks in itself. I hate it when I'm so close to winning an auction and get outbid! Even worse is finding a dress but the currency conversion makes it so expensive to get to my country, and even worse than that is finding a dress but it has been scalped in price that it's just like pffffttt good luck selling that orz;;

8. Trying to match colours together sometimes in a pain in the butt. Like when you buy a cardigan in pink and it's a different pink to the dress you're trying to wear it with. Or your socks are just slightly off and are a different colour and just don't match how you would like it too. Oh man my biggest personal pet peeve is trying to match the white or cream lace on your dress to your blouse (I know only I really notice but ughhhhhhhh) !! I also have something against most blue and yellow colourways of dresses, I don't know why but I just tend to avoid them.

9. "The bloomer and blouse rule" is the stupidest thing ever, like ever ever. Sometimes it's just too uncomfortable to wear these things whether it doesn't fit underneath, you're hot or it just doesn't match and you're experimenting with a different look. I personally think do whatever you like mannn, there shouldn't be rules to lolita (we're not in a private high school nerr nerrr).

Cute, but sometimes annoying >___<

10. The worst but best thing about lolita is lace monstersssssssssssss. Good god they are the worst thing ever but I'm so glad they exist because they are also hilarious because they are so hideous. Oh Milanoo, you da best - I even follow a tumblr blog dedicated to Milanoo nightmares !!

Thanks for reading guys, please leave any comments or questions below and link me to your lolita challenges too!

Lolita challenge 2: 10 things you love in lolita!

It was a little bit hard to write about this challenge because there are a lot of things that I love; I basically love everything to do with lolita. So here I go with part two ^__^!!
1. The main thing I love about lolita is the dresses themselves! It's not only just fawing over prints you want or see, but it's the colours and the designs that come along with it. My favourite part is collecting them, or searching desperately for your dream dress and the feeling when you finally obtain it !!

2. My favourite themes within lolita are the chocolate and sweets themed dresses. It's become very popular recently with a lot of brands bringing out prints based around ♥ ♥ ♥ chocolates, pastries, ice-cream and sugary treats ♥ ♥ .

The Imai Kira banner for the Chess Chocolate release ~

3. The shoes are probably the cutest things ever, like ever ever. What other fashion has dolly style boots and flats with bows and ribbons and rounded fronts and just ahhhhhhhhh they're so amazing !!

4. Okayyyy so this one is a bit childish, but I really love the fact that when I wear lolita I get to be a puffy cupcake. Not many fashion styles let you wear big fluffy petticoats that make you look like blobbing jellyfish when you bob up and down. It's also funny to watch a big group of lolitas try and navigate around each other in a room because we take up so much space with our big ruffly butts, hahahaha.

5. The best thing that comes with lolita is definitely the community and lifestyle. Everybody's mutual love towards the fashion and each other and just a general understanding and acceptance of one another and our different personalities and styles ♥ ♥

6. I really love how the brands not only bring out clothing and accessories, but they have novelties as well. Tea cups, make up bags, plush toys, cutlery and plates, postcards, badges, hankerchiefs and everything else - they're just a really cute addition to any lolita bedroom and a really lovely thing to have that's for everyday use as well. I would love to be able to get my hands on some more (especially a mug for work so everybody knows it's mine >___< ).

Examples of Angelic Pretty novelties from 2010 ~

7. Lolita has given me a lot of self confidence and has been such a creative outlet for me and it's really really awesome. I've gone from being a super shy hermit crab to someone who can derp around and speak up, be silly and be themselves in public and around friends and to me that's definitely a big thing for me (and for a lot of other girls I know!)

8. The excitement after purchasing something and waiting for the packages. I check my mail box every day and stalk the mail man waiting for them !! It's such a nice feeling when you finally get to open them up too and roll around with them just like ahhhhhhh it's finally mine ^___^ !!

My relationship with the post man *evil grin*

9.  A really cool thing is the ever changing trends and experimentation with styles and substyles that happens when you're either following or participating in lolita. Some I don't like as much as others (mainly because I can't pull it off orz;;) , but it's really awesome to see other people rocking their own interpretations of the style and mixing up substyles to create their own unique coordinates and looks.

10. I love getting all ready and dressed up. I was never good at makeup before I started wearing lolita and now I'm a fanatic for the dolly look and can do it so quickly with all my practice! I guess it's because when I am wearing lolita I love the fact that I do feel like a dolly princess.

Mar is also doing the Lolita challenge! Check out her entries here *click me* !! And Liz just started too *click me* !! Let me know if you're doing it in the comments below as well so I can lurk and post you n___n!
