Interview in "That's Life" magazine!

Recently I was contacted by "That's Life" magazine about doing an interview regarding lolita fashion! I just went down to the shop today to pick it up and I've scanned it into the computer so everybody can read it! It's been written in first person on my behalf which ties in with the themes of the magazine - so keep that in mind while reading please !!

It was a pleasure to work with Nina Young the journalist who interviewed me, because she really did listen to my story correctly, and followed through with all my requests and queries about the doll aspect of the spread. Basically I asked her to explain that it was a street fashion and that it didn't revolve around girls trying to make themselves into living dolls so she toned it down as much as she could.

Portraying lolita in the media is definitely a hard task with it being such a niche little fashion that would be hard to explain to people in only a two page spread, so even though they've gone for the "living doll" angle, it's not too over the top or overly offensive so I'm really quite pleased with how it's turned out.
*I would like to note that I was not informed about the side profile that has lolita comparing to Dakota, Venus and Valeria who are a completely different trend.

  1. Its a shame they still spoke about it being a 'living doll' style, but this is certainly the best article I've seen in the media portraying lolita fashion.
Amazing article either way, Thanks for scanning it in for us all who aren't from Australia!~ <3

    1. Yeah, it's a bit of a shame and I spoke to the journalist about it and she explained that it's because the audience this is directed at, they will understand that term better than an explanation of lolita fashion.

I'm still very happy with how it has turned out though!

  2. I don't like the term 'living doll' - especially with that My Strange Addiction episode out :\

But at least this article was toned down :3

    1. No, neither do it - it's definitely a different trend to the lolita fashion trend.
That episode really scared me, hahahaha!

Yes yes I agree, it could have been pretty bad if it was completely doll revolved!

    1. Thank you! I'm definitely unhappy with a few things that were said but in the end it turned out okay ♥ ! Usually I'm exactly the same, but the reporter listened to me more than usual so I was like yaaaaaay!

  6. It's kind of a shame that people don't really 'get' Japanese fashion and tend to link all styles together, but congrats for being mentioned! :3
